Tailored For Success, Inc., (“TFS”) was founded in 1999 and is dedicated to increasing the employability of economically disadvantaged women. The organization was established to provide workforce development services that supplemented traditional welfare-to-work and job training programs. Specifically, traditional job training programs give individuals the technical skills to perform a particular job. TFS goes one step beyond to help our clients retain employment.

Our services were originally designed to solve the “Catch 22” that women in transition get caught in; specifically that they need professional business attire to create a positive first impression to be able to interview effectively for jobs that will help them achieve economic self-sufficiency. However, women in transition lack the financial resources necessary to purchase such clothing. Therefore, the organization was established to provide women in transition with “new” or “nearly new” business clothing donated from the general public to help them make a positive first impression. The result is that something as simple as giving a low-income woman a suit not only improves her professional image, it dramatically increases her self-esteem and her belief in her ability to succeed.

However, we understand that women in transition need more than just professional clothing to succeed in today’s competitive workforce. In order for our clients to secure and retain employment, they must be able to not only project a professional image and interview effectively but also understand the culture of today’s workplace and overcome any barriers to employment that they may face. Therefore, we have expanded our programs and services to respond to these issues by developing a Women’s Business Suit Distribution Program. This program includes workshops designed to increase “soft” skills (i.e., time management, conflict resolution) to help individuals retain employment along with one-to-one individual job coaching, interview coaching and image consulting.
